Effective date: July 2026
CHS Hubs (the "Service") is operated by FIRST Chesapeake to help FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams share manufacturing resources. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how it's protected.
Via Google sign-in: your name, email address, and Google account identifier.
Team and profile information you provide:your team's program (FRC/FTC) and team number, your ZIP code (used to estimate distance to other teams for matching), your preferred match radius, and notification preferences.
Listings: the manufacturing capabilities your team offers and the needs your team is looking for help with.
Help request content: request descriptions, message threads, and any files (such as CAD or drawing files) you upload. Attachments are stored in private object storage and are only ever accessible to the requesting team, the responding team, and platform administrators — never by a public or shareable link.
Slack (optional): if your team or the platform connects Slack for notifications, we store the Slack bot token, encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM, and the channel you choose to link.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Your team's capability listings and approximate location are shown on the public map and directory (unless an administrator has restricted browsing to signed-in users). Your ZIP code itself is never shown publicly — only distances derived from it. Help request descriptions, messages, and attachments are visible only to your team, the specific team you're corresponding with, and platform administrators.
We use Google (sign-in), Slack (optional notifications), DigitalOcean (application and file storage), The Blue Alliance and the FIRST/FTC Events API (team validation), and an email provider (notification delivery). Each is governed by its own privacy policy. We only request the permissions required to operate the Service.
We retain your information while your account is active. If an account is disabled, its listings are deactivated, but historical records — such as help request messages and audit entries — may be retained where needed for accountability or to preserve the record of a conversation with another team. Contact us to request removal of your data.
Slack bot tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. Sessions are stored server-side and can be revoked immediately by an administrator. Help-request attachments are stored in a private bucket and are only ever served through an authenticated, authorized route — never a public or presigned link. Administrative actions are logged. We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, but no system is perfectly secure.
FRC and FTC teams include high school (and, for FTC, middle school) students. CHS Hubs accounts are intended to be created and managed by team mentors, coaches, or other adult team representatives on behalf of their team. If you believe an account has been created by a minor without appropriate adult supervision, please contact us and we will address it.
Questions about this policy, or requests to review or remove your data, can be sent to contact@chshubs.org.
